Course DescriptionAn in-depth study of the control abstractions in modern operating systems and the issues involved in efficient implementation of those abstractions. Topics will include concurrency and its control, memory management, resource management, and structure of distributed and parallel operating systems. These topics will be developed through the lectures, assigned readings from the literature, and an examination of actual operating systems.
